Six easy ways to go to sleep with a tidy home each night

Make the bed

It sounds like a simple thing to do, but by making your bed after you wake up, you start your day on the right foot, and other clean and tidy practices can follow.

Clean as you cook

A kitchen can get cluttered very quickly, and before you know it, you are surrounded by dirty pots,   pans, and cutlery. You can keep on top of this by cleaning as you cook. While your dinner is cooking on the stove or in the oven, throw out peelings, scraps, and empty packages and wash the pots and pans you have used for preparation. That way, after you have eaten dinner, all you need to do is load the dishwasher or wash your dinner plates by hand.

As you go

Before you leave a room, pick up your belongings and return them to the place they should be. For instance, pick up any dishes or cups on your way to the kitchen, collect your dirty laundry on your way down to the basement, and take the garbage out on the way to your car.

Wipe up messes as they happen

Leaving spills for later will give you more work. Wipe them up as they happen, and you will not run the risk of set-in stains that will require more extensive and challenging cleaning the next day.

Sweep the kitchen floor

This will prevent dirt from being dragged through the rest of the house. The kitchen usually sees a lot of traffic and dirt and debris being brought in from outside or from food prep. A clean kitchen floor can change your attitude about a lot of things. Give it a try!

All of these tips are pretty helpful, but if you are a busy parent or have a time-consuming job hiring a house cleaning service could be the answer for you.
